Action Plan

1. The name of your organization:
Stable Employment, Equal Payment (SEEP)Your specific topic: To help stabilize the jobs of Chinese migrant workers and to increase their payment so they can support themselves and their families.

2. The purpose- Why are you doing this action?
We chose to help these migrant workers because we think that it is very unfair for them to work the same amount or maybe even more than workers in the cities but only gain so little. We also don't want them to have to move to the urban areas because many generations of their family live there and all of their family's history should not be left behind.

3. The message- Why should people be informed about this issue?
People should be informed of this problem because if these migrant workers don't receive enough payment to support themselves, they would will have to move into the city and it might lead to mass amount of people in the city. Also there will would be less job opportunities for others causing poverty or other possibilities.

4. A goal- make sure this is a project that can be done and hopefully continued
Our goal is to inform others about this plan through posters across the school. Along with the posters, we will also give a short presentation to each advisory rooms. These posters and presentations will tell them about the problem and ask them to donate money into their school house (dolphin, bear, falcon, or pumas) donation box. If we could, we can ask permission for the house with the most money would get a certain amount of points. We want to donate this to Mercy Corps to help finish their plan to help more than 8,000 farmers. In addition, every $1 we put in, Mercy Corps would be able to add an addition $2 that came from other Chinese organizations/companies, meaning they would benefit from triple the amount of money that we donate.

5. A short-term plan for achieving your goal (keep it simple and don’t be too ambitious- again make sure you CAN actually do this)
First, ask permission to set up such a donation plan and allow points to be given to the houses. Then we want to make posters and put them across 6th - 8th grade halls to inform people of this. With the posters, we are going to prepare a small presentation for students and present to advisory classes. After collecting money, we want to donate it to Mercy Corps making our school a part of their organization.

6. A long-term plan for achieving your goal We would like to continue fund raising but in a greater community like another school near by. As our organization grows larger, we want some activities to fund raise to gain even more money for example, baking treats and selling them. We could also pay these migrant workers a visit and take some photos or and interview to help gain supporters. From this point, we can branch out and spread to a larger and larger community; first with our school then maybe moving on from the Pudong campus.

7. Resources needed for this action plan
Permission from the school to run this fund raise.
Connection with Mercy Corps to donate.
Posters requiring information.
Donation "jars" for collecting donation.
Help from people around the school.

8. Division of responsibilities- who will do what?
Brian - Posters with information about issue.
Allyn - Asking for permission needed and will make the mini presentation.
Daniel - In charge of getting donation collecting containers and in charge of money.
